Welcome to our page for sharing our...

We have been selling some of our cattle to 4-H participants to see how they do in 4-H clubs/club calf shows and in carcass classes/grading.  In our limited numbers so far, we have had some very good results.  THANKS to all the hard working 4-Her's out there for all your commitment and excellent representation!

In the future, we are planning on selecting a few of our best calves to show in Fairs and Purebred Shows in Alberta and possibly Saskatchewan. We will always have limited showing of our cattle though, so they need to show their strengths at home and in other ranchers herds too! We believe that word of mouth speaks volumes and we want to demonstrate that our cattle do well in everyday ranching life. We also want to sell bulls to commercial cattleman/woman that are able to produce progeny that assist the rancher to have premium calves in the fall; that draw top dollar from feedlots who want the beef these animals produce!

   Stay tuned for more news...

We are gathering testing on our cattle including:

GENOMICS: PMCH, LEPTIN, IGF2, CRH, Black Color Dominance, RFI, DMI, REA, ADG, AFAT, HCW, LMY, CMAR, mEPD, Polled, and starting soon Myostatin.

We are participating in the AAFC BEEF GENOMIC PREDICTION TRIAL.

We will need time to decipher all the results and to develop any patterns we see in our bloodlines and cattle. We are using genomics as another tool in our arsenal of strategies to breed top quality cattle. We want to maintain the traits that this breed has been built upon, such as their carcass qualities and enhancing feed conversion, reproductive soundness, maternal traits, quiet disposition and good overall health. We think we have chosen some of the best animals we could have and hope that the niches we do in breeding truly do demonstrate greatness.

"BLUE BERRY" was one of our best to date show calves- she made us proud. Her results: "Reserve Grand Champion Female" at the District 4-H Show at Drayton Valley 2016. Congrats Tell Calvert!

 BlueBerry at Lloydminster Stockade

Tell Calvert and Matters BlueBerry 21B won Reserve Grand Champion Junior Female at the Lloydminster Stockade Roundup in Nov 2015!   She also made into the Bred Heifer final of the Junior All Breed Show there, we are very pleased to see a young man with loads of showmanship ability achieve such success!

We also showed her at FarmFair 2015 and she did us proud!

We are thrilled to THANK Tell Calvert for being a great ambassador for our breed.  He SHOWED our cattle in 2015 4-H & Junior Beef Shows in Alberta, and did quite well against all breeds!  He helped bring Speckle Park more out to the open and started a great conversation with many!

He purchased a steer from us, ACE (sired by Urban Cowboy and a SP/Angus cow) and leased a PB SP Heifer "Matters Blue Berry 21B" for the year.

These photos were taken at the local 4-H Show at Drayton Valley, AB and the 2015 "Making Champions" Clinic in Lacombe, AB

We were thrilled that one of our Speckle Park commercial steers had won Grand Champion at the North Okanagan 4-H Beef Show 2013- congrats Shelby Wolzen.  She then went on to Regionals to win second in his steer class at the Okanagan 4-H Stock Show.  She did an amazing job!

Also, Shelby Wolzen showed a Heifer at the Okanagan 4-H Stock Show 2013 off one of our commercial cows to FIFTH place overall!
